Description: All too often, important women in the art world go un-noticed. This exhibition will feature pottery, baskets, and weavings by women artists whose work crossed boundaries from creating utilitarian objects, to works of art. These works by unknown artists will inspire all. Also on view will be work by important artists such as Margaret Tafoya, Lucy Lewis, Sophie and Frances Varos Graves, Zoriada Ortega, and Lydia Garcia.

Summary: Barbara Sayre Harmon – Magic and Mystery

Description: Barbara’s métier is fantasy. Inspired at an early age by Arthur Rackham’s watercolor illustrations in The Wind in the Willows, Barbara explored the art of classical fantasy English watercolor. In her mystical, dreamlike images, she tries to bring about a sense of peace and contemplation in the viewer.

Summary: Healthy for the Holidays

Description: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico will host Healthy for the Holidays, a free, community-wide health fair.The fair will promote a holistic approach to health for participants, including being physically healthy, nutritionally sound, and emotionally ready for the holidays. Description: Sup Executive Chef Anthony Damiano will present a cooking demonstration and tasting called "Thanksgiving Boot Camp." Cooking the turkey is the easy part, he says—it's the appetizers and side dishes that throw most cooks. Damiano will demonstrate two appetizers, three side dishes and two desserts—and he'll provide all attendees with copies of each family recipe. The class cost is $45; class is limited to 16 attendees.

Location: White Sands National Monument
Description: Sunset strolls are a great way to end your day. Enjoy a leisurely one-hour ranger-guided walk through sand dunes and learn about the geology, plants, and animals of this unique area. Program starts at the sign along Dunes Drive about five miles from the visitor center. No charge for the program. A $3.00 per person (16 years and older) entrance fee does apply to enter the monument. Programs are offered daily.

Description: A performance by harmony-driven duo Jubilant Bridge, double Finalist for Best Group/Duo in both the 7th and 8th Annual International Acoustic Music Awards for songs from their latest CD, “Power Lines.” The concert will feature their compelling originals, intricate harmonies and arrangements, and innovative dulcimer. Pure-voiced poet Carol Van Alstine and dulcimer wizard Willie Jaeger weave their voices and instruments into “musical and lyrical tapestries that can be surprisingly deep and poetic” (Victory Music Review).

Description: A Benefit Production for Ski Apache Disabled Skiers Program. Directed by Glynese Floyd, recipient of the Governor's Award for Theatre Excellence. The true story of Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan, a gripping battle to overcome impossible obstacles and the struggle to communicate. As a young girl, Helen Keller is stricken with scarlet fever that left her blind, deaf and mute. Sealed off from the world, Helen cannot communicate with anyone, nor anyone with her. Annie Sullivan is summoned by the family to help Helen understand the world from which she is isolated, freeing Helen from her internal prison forever.
